On January 25th, 1759, Scotland's favorite son, Robert Burns, was born. A lyricist and a poet, Burns' success earned him the reputation as the national poet of Scotland, as well as recognition worldwide. Not surprisingly, his fame continued to grow long after his death. So much so, his fans throughout the world gather together every year on his birthday to celebrate Burns Night, an evening filled with lively celebratin' with good friends, reciting a few of Burns' poetry and lyrics, and eating a traditional Scottish meal. Oh yeah. There's also the occasional glass of some good ol' Scotch Whisky.
